Expanding Perspectives Project
The Tales from the Porch: Expanding Perspectives Project was created and designed by Aitina Fareed-Cooke in order to expand perspectives and build empathy among community members through hands-on digital storytelling and literary arts engagements.
Participants use digital tools such as cameras, iPads, and other materials in order to develop, capture, and write poetic and photographic stories by exploring and sharing experiences. Through this process, participants foster an appreciation of different perspectives and deepen empathy for others.
Curriculums/Programs are customizable to support the goals of a program, event, etc.

The Art of Lyricism: Crafting Stories Through Hip Hop, is a workshop designed to unlock your lyrical potential. This workshop is perfect for emerging songwriters, poets, and storytellers who want to dive into the art of writing captivating, evocative lyrics that resonate with listeners.
Through a combination of theoretical insight, practical exercises, and interactive discussions, attendees will learn the fundamentals of lyric writing, from crafting beautiful imagery and narratives to developing rhythm and rhyme.

Smartphone Photography for the Creative Souls
Through a variety of hands-on activities, explore how to capture, enhance and share images and become a better smartphone photographer!
Workshop options are available for youth, entrepreneurs/business owners, non-profit organizations, and more.

What gets captured in the shadows of the forgotten? Who notices the gems among the thorns? It’s all a matter of perspective. It’s all in the way in which we view what surrounds us. Beauty can be nestled deep within the soil but we must search to find it and that… that is the very thing that we will do.
In this hands-on interactive workshop series we explore selected neighborhoods in order to capture perspectives through the lens of the camera with the hopes to expose the pearls that have been passed over.
